Before and After Facial Care
Avoid Pre- Facial:
ACCUTANE:
Isotretinoin, also known as Accutane, causes the skin to thin and become fragile over time so it’s important to avoid all skin treatments to be safe and wait after 1 year of use to resume any medical aesthetic treatments.
BOTOX:
Book your facial appointment 2 weeks after the day of your Botox appointment. Each Facial treatment includes a facial massage and massaging skin increases the risk of moving the injectable around the strong area.
EYELASH EXTENSIONS:
Book your facial appointment 48 hours after your eyelash appointment as eyelash extensions after care require 48 hours of keeping your lashes dry and all facial services include steaming of the face, which can affect your lash extension retention.
EXFOLIATING PRODUCTS OR TREATMENTS:
Ingredients like Retinol or chemical peels like glycolic, salicylic acid, dermabrasions, must be 2 weeks prior to any facial service as these products and treatments exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin and make skin sensitive and fresh. Most facial reactions result in issues from over exfoliation.
AVOID AT HOME EXTRACTIONS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT.
Attempting to pop and squeeze your own pimples and or blackheads at home can not only possibly spread the bacteria but doing so before your facial may hyper-inflame your skin making extractions difficult.
Come to your appointment makeup free and ready to relax!
After Care
Do not pick at your face as your hands may have bacteria that can easily transfer on to your face.
Do not try to pop other comedones (pimples or blackheads) as you increase the chance of spreading bacteria underneath the skin if you attempt to extract incorrectly.
Do not work out for 24 hours, excessive heat and sweat can irritate your fresh exfoliated skin.
Do not apply makeup on your freshly exfoliate face, ideally wait overnight or at least 8 hours, to fully benefit from the products applied during your facial and to prevent blocked pores.
Avoid saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms or any other environment with hot steam for at least 2-3 days after facial. This can lead to sensitivity, inflammation, redness and broken capillaries.
Avoid other spa exfoliation treatments such as; chemical peels (glycolic acids, salicylic acids) or at home treatments like; retinol and exfoliation products for one week, as your skin may still be sensitive and over-exfoliation may lead to irritation and breakouts.
Avoid the Sun/tanning for at least a week. Your skin will be more sensitive and vulnerable to the sun’s harmful rays. But still wear a SPF of 30 everyday.
May resume prescription retinoid products 7 days after treatment.
80/20 RULE: Continuously use the correct beneficial products according to your skin type to address your skin goals. It is very important to keep up with skincare routine as 100% of your results come from 80% at home skin care and 20% from your treatments.
